One of the first things I always look up, when preparing for a trip to a more expensive destination like Mykonos, is where I can eat delicious food at a reasonable price. Whether you are at home or traveling, you always have to eat! But I’m not the kind of person that wants to spend 50€ on a 3-course dinner. In fact I almost never order a 3-course dinner either. Just a nice glass of wine, a main course and sometimes a dessert will do. Except if I didn’t make any plans that evening, then I can enjoy a more course dinner. Just to reward myself for spending another great day of exploring a new place. In Mykonos I found some very affordable places so keep reading if you want to know where to eat in Mykonos on a budget!
Azores Road Trip: Discover Flores in one day
Flores, along with tiny Corvo, is the most remote island of the Azores. It is the most western point of Europe and also one of Europe’s most beautiful places. Because of its remoteness this small paradise island is still untouched and authentic. Nature rules here with unpredictable weather, the most awesome waterfalls, crater lakes in various colors, the greenest cliffs and gorgeous flowers. Everywhere you look and drive are gorgeous sceneries.
Where to find the hidden waterfall in Southwest Iceland (Thjófafoss)
Thjófafoss is a waterfall in the Southeast of Iceland that I never encountered in any travel guide. So how did I find it? Those who read my e-book “How to plan your trip” know that I use a certain app to plan all my trips and itineraries. This app (I keep it a secret only shared with those who read my e-book 🙂 ) shows all waterfalls, places of interest, hiking routes,… everything that I find interesting to discover while traveling.

Mykonos on a budget: where to stay?
Mykonos is one of the most expensive destinations in the world regarding hotel prices. But that didn’t stop me from looking for a nice hotel with a beautiful pool on a great location. It took me a while browsing through all these luxurious hotels with infinity pools looking over the Aegean Sea. But I did find what I was looking for and it exceeded my expectations! So it is possible to stay in Mykonos on a budget!
Antwerp Pride: why there should be more events like this in the world
The Antwerp Pride is an event organized every Summer in Antwerp. The party event takes several days and consists of multiple activities. The main event everyone is always looking forward to the most is the parade. All organisations that are active in or support homosexuality, transgenderness, etc participate in the parade. Everyone puts on their finest clothes or costumes and is dancing happily around. This event is not just a party though. The most important thing about it is to create awareness.
The most beautiful photo locations in Santorini
Santorini truly is one of the most photogenic places I have ever been to. The view of the contrasting white houses built on the dark lava cliffs surrounded by the bluest sky and sea is surreal. I made so many pictures there during my stay, both at the famous Instagram spots and lesser known locations. But don’t think it’s easy to take these epic shots. If you don’t want to wait in line to take your picture (yes, it is that crowded) and you want to be able to reach the epic places behind the “private area” signs, you need to wake up very early (I’m talking about before sunrise).
Little things you can do to save the earth
After reading and watching the news lately, I’m getting so angry and disappointed. Deadly heat waves in China, extreme heat of over 48°C in Spain and Portugal, heat waves and drought in my own country Belgium, wildfires in California, Greece and even in Sweden… and let’s be honest, there’s only one who is responsible for all this: the human race. Don’t even try to deny it. It is you and me who are guilty of destroying our dear planet earth, our home!…
Where to stay in Santorini on a budget (in Oia & Thira)
Santorini on a budget almost sounds like an impossible thing to do. It is the last place you think about when traveling on a budget. Unlike the rest of Greece (except for Mykonos) it is a very expensive destination to stay at. Everyone dreams of staying at those cave hotels at Oia or Thira with their own private jacuzzis and caldeira views. But those are super expensive. If you don’t want to spend 500€ a night, it is still possible to stay in Santorini though…
One day in Utrecht
Recently I spent a weekend in Utrecht and I loved this charming city in the Netherlands! Many call it “Amsterdam’s cool little sister” and I totally agree! You can find the same building styles, canals and vibe, but smaller and less crowded. Even though Utrecht doesn’t have many must see sights, it really is a city you must visit and experience. I stayed for the weekend there, but spending one day in Utrecht is enough to explore it at its fullest.
Megalochori, hidden gem of Santorini
Sometimes you discover beautiful untouched places “by accident”. Megalochori is definitely one of them. I found this cute little town while looking for the three bells monument in Santorini that I pinned in my favorite maps app*. I completely lost sense of direction (which doesn’t happen to me a lot), so I decided to ask for instructions at the local Family Bakery & Pastry Shop of Megalochori. They didn’t really know about bells near the caldera edge, but they knew of some bells and churches in the town center. So I decided …
Waterfalls in Southwest Iceland: the bucket list
I don’t know if there is anyone who loves waterfalls as much as I do. But if you do, you must explore the waterfalls in Southwest Iceland! Traveling to Iceland was high on my bucket list, since there are over 10.000 waterfalls spread over the island. I had one week to explore, so I only did the southwest of Iceland and encountered a lot of magnificent waterfalls on the way. Some very popular and crowded, others hidden in lava fields with no one else around. I was in complete awe by the beauty of Iceland and I will definitely return to tour the whole island. When traveling to Southwest Iceland I suggest to make sure these waterfalls are on your bucket list!
