Hiking at the Hallerbos (Halle’s Wood) is the perfect day trip from Brussels. It is situated about 20 kilometers south of Brussels. Around April this fantastic forest is at its best when the purple carpet of bluebells appears. These beautiful flowers cover the forest’s grounds completely accompanied by white wood anemones. This wonder of nature attracts thousands of visitors from around the world every year so I had to take a look as well!
I noticed that the Hallerbos offers a lot of different trails for hikers, horse riding and bikers. You can walk there for hours enjoying the sight and smell of the purple bluebells. I couldn’t stop taking pictures and stare at the surreal image of thousands of purple flowers spread all around me.
When visiting Brussels in April, you should definitely check the flowering season information on the Hallerbos website. If the bluebells are there, take the opportunity to visit this magical place. You won’t regret it!
Here are some pictures I took.
