Early mornings and their sunrise are quite special. You have to learn to appreciate them. You often forget what it’s like to wake up early and just sit back and enjoy the moment of a fresh start of the day. You try to stay in bed as long as possible, because you don’t want to get out in the cold. When you finally manage to get out of bed, you’re too busy preparing yourself to get ready for work. When you don’t have to work, you tend to sleep in until the day has almost passed halfway.
I hate waking up during the week as well, especially on work days during Winter. But in Summertime I love to wake up early with the birds and enjoy the beautiful sunrise. I have to admit that in the city it isn’t always easy. The sunrise is often hidden behind another building or a tree. But still you can experience the silence of the world that is still waking up. You can hear the birds and feel as if the night swiped away all the bad things and the new day will bring something positive.
When I tell people I wake up early when on vacation they often call me crazy. But I love to experience a full day. I don’t want to waste precious time, when I can discover beautiful new places. I don’t do vacations to sit at the pool or the beach all day, every day. There are days I will do that, but that’s not my main goal when traveling. There’s too much to see and do in the world.
Some of my best mornings abroad were the ones where I woke up early. I loved to see the sunrise in Cuba. The only thing I heard were the seagulls, the splashing waves and the pelicans diving into the sea to catch fish. Even in the Dominican Republic where a rain shower woke me up at 6 am, I watched the rain coming down from the terrace. I loved the beauty of the small raindrops dripping off the palm leaves. The sound of the rain relaxed me. After the tropical shower I even saw a hummingbird for the first time, which was so cute! The early morning is also perfect for taking pictures. The golden hour offers beautiful light!
I already dream of my trip to the Azores in September. This place has beautiful nature to offer with waterfalls, lakes and volcanoes. It’s also a place where you can find many dolphins and whales. I can’t wait to step out early near the beach and try to catch a glimpse of these sea mammals. Or experience a sunrise from the top of a cliff.
I hope I can convince you to try it once; waking up early and experiencing a place in the morning. When you do and you sit there capturing the moment in silence, I hope you are as satisfied as me.

I could feel those early morning vibes radiating beautifully from within each line and each paragraph of this article. I have been an earlybird since my childhood and i too remember most of the precious moments making up my memories are from the early mornings. I love to spend slow mornings watering the plants and meditating for long hours in the silence and hearing the songs of the birds. The cool breeze and the pure blue sky are something worth sacrificing your sleep for. I wish people could realize what impact a beautiful start of the day can have over their entire day. And how much they are loosing by deciding to stay in bed late everyday.
