Yesterday I went hiking near Walk in Belgium. Walk is situated near Waimes on the edge of the High Fens (Hautes Fagnes). This area is the highest of the Ardennes and offers beautiful hikes through forests next to small rivers and waterfalls.
Hiking in the woods must be one of my favorite activities to do in my own country when the sun is shining. Belgium isn’t big and it doesn’t have mountains and huge waterfalls. But there are hills and areas like the High Fens where nature is lovely and you can escape the busy streets and everyday life. I love the sound of the wind blowing through the trees, flowing rivers and birds singing. It makes me feel totally relaxed. On top of that; breathing the fresh air and climbing and descending the hills is good for your health!
This walk led me through the Warche valley passing the Reinhardstein castle and the lake of Robertville. It offered many different types of scenery. If you ever decide to visit Belgium and you have enough time to discover nature next to visiting cities like Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges or Brussels, you really should consider hiking the Hautes Fagnes area.
You can read about another walk in this area to the Cascade du Bayehon here.
