London is one of those cities that knows very well how to “do” Christmas. You can find Christmas trees everywhere in London around Christmas time. Every street is decorated with spectacular Christmas lights. Especially the Mayfair and Soho area with Oxford Street, Regent Street and Carnaby Street look amazing! London does not just hang some Christmas lights in the streets. They make massive angels, bows, Christmas baubles of it! And it’s not just the city itself that is making an effort.
All the shops, restaurants and department stores seem to hire Christmas specialists to decorate their window displays. Even more, inside you can find the most amazing Christmas decorations hanging everywhere, making every store a true Christmas paradise. The huge department stores adapt their menus, offering rich Christmas meals. The people behind the counter wear their Christmas costumes. Sometimes even the food looks like a Christmas decoration! Nowhere have I seen prettier cupcakes than in London. I even felt a little sorry to eat and destroy them. But it was worth it because they tasted so good!
Winter Wonderland is another wonderful Christmas event in London you musn’t miss if you love the Christmas magic! It’s a huge Christmas market combined with a massive funfair! Read more about it here.
The only down side of going to London in December is that it gets crowded… very very crowded! The area around Oxford Street is pure madness! So my advice to you is to explore the other areas as well and try to go during the week, when it’s a little less crowded than during the weekends. I also bet the beginning of December is less crowded than the days right before Christmas. But I really think everyone should have been to London in December once in their lifetime, when all the Christmas magic is going on.

I’ve seriously always wanted to go to London just for the Christmas vibes. This post makes me soooo wish I was there right now, especially as all of my best friends LIVE there! I just visited during the summer though, so maybe next year.
Merry Christmas to you, by the way! 🙂
