Beautiful photography locations in Mykonos aren’t hard to find since the town is absolutely stunning. The best way to discover them is to get lost in the narrow streets of the old town and wander away from the more crowded shopping streets. A few alleys further you’ll find yourself alone surrounded by white houses with blue, green, pink and red staircases and window frames, smelling the scent of freshly washed clothes and sheets drying in the sun and waving in the sea breeze and of course the smell of pancakes and warm bread.
Still the best way to take gorgeous and dreamy pictures in Mykonos for your new wall decoration or Instagram account is to wake up early (as I always advise to do) so you’ll have the town all to yourself (except for a few drunk people returning from the party) without the shops displaying their stuff. You’ll get a more authentic feel of the city. But where are the most beautiful Mykonos photography locations? Keep reading!
Best Photography Locations in Mykonos
Kato Mili
The 5 windmills remain the island’s most iconic landmark to date. You can find them along the seaside, west from the city center. It’s a very crowded place during the day, especially when the cruiseships have arrived, but if you go early in the morning you’ll be able to make excellent pictures.
Boni’s windmill
This windmill lies on the hill overlooking the city of Mykonos next to the old ring road. The small gate says “private area”, but you can take photos there without any problems. You get an amazing view of the complete town and it’s also a great place to watch the sunset. I never encountered too many people there.
Streets south from Boni’s windmill
The two streets that start from the old ring road south from Boni’s windmill and take you down to the city center are cute and offer some nice views of houses, stairs and bougainvillea flowers.
Paraportiani church
The most famous church of Mykonos is single colored in white and lies by the sea. You can take pretty pictures of it from different angles. In the morning it gets colored pink because of the red rising sun.
Little Venice
Houses right next to the sea with waves splashing into them, how can this not be a pretty sight? It looks a little like Venice (hence the name).
Shopping streets before opening time
When the shops are still closed everything looks totally different. You will really get to enjoy the white facades with the bright colored staircases.
Bougainvilleas
You can take amazing pictures where you can find the beautiful bougainvillea flowers. They really stand out against the white facades and the bluest Greek sky!
Old harbour
Old harbours are always charming with their old fisher boats.
