Mykonos is one of the most expensive destinations in the world regarding hotel prices. But that didn’t stop me from looking for a nice hotel with a beautiful pool on a great location. It took me a while browsing through all these luxurious hotels with infinity pools looking over the Aegean Sea. But I did find what I was looking for and it exceeded my expectations! So it is possible to stay in Mykonos on a budget!
Mykonos on a budget: where to stay?
Casa Bianca Hotel, Ornos for a long relaxed stay
Price: 110€/night in June (breakfast incl.) (book here)
I loved everything about this place! I got picked up at the airport by one of their drivers and he was really friendly. As soon as I arrived at the hotel I got greeted by my first name (which means they actually make the effort to prepare themselves and make you feel at home instantly) by the owner and (I assume it was) his mother. They informed me about the breakfast hours and a few other things and then showed me to my room.
The room wasn’t big, but spacious enough for just me and very clean. It smelled so good! The bathroom was also spotless, even though there was a (clean) shower curtain (Usually I hate shower curtains)! I had a refrigerator to stock my drinks and there was airconditioning so it never got too hot.
Breakfast was just perfect. They had everything I wanted; fresh fruits, omelettes, croissants, bread, juice, charcuterie,… The breakfast room looked out over the pool and was the perfect place to begin the day.
The pool was just dreamy. It wasn’t too big and never crowded. I often had it all to myself or shared it with only 2 or 3 people. There were enough lounge beds and room to move them to lay in the sun.
The hotel owners and staff were the sweetest. I regret forgetting her name, but the “mother” of the house was always very kind and she had some great restaurant and beach tips. Everyone was always ready to help with a smile. I even got teary eyed when I had to leave because I loved it there so much!
The location may be a bit further from Mykonos town center (2 km), but renting a car or quad isn’t expensive (and the parking lot offers enough parking space) and the bus station is only a short walk from the hotel. Nearby are two beaches. One where there were a lot of kite surfers and another one packed with beach bars but also with a nice view on the bay and sunset. There was a mini market nearby to buy the necessary.
If I decide to return to Mykonos on a budget I definitely choose this hotel again!
Anastasios Sevasti, Mykonos town for a quick stay
Price: 135€/night in June (breakfast incl.) (book here)
I booked this hotel for my last night in Mykonos after arriving back from Santorini. I wanted to stay in town so I didn’t need to rent a car. One of the guys from the hotel picked me up from the New Port and shared some tips on the way. He was very friendly. The hotel itself was bigger than the previous one.
My room was spacious and clean but the bathroom very tiny. The shower had a curtain and no shower tub so after I took a shower the bathroom looked as if a tsunami had passed.
Breakfast took place in a room beside the pool. There was plenty of choice. No omelette but there were fried eggs though!
The pool itself was quite big, but there wasn’t a lot of room to sit. Everyone was right next to each other and you weren’t able to move your chair. The picture above is from the hotel, but when I was there, a lot more lounge beds were placed.
The location of the hotel was perfect. Just far enough to not hear the crowds and the party sounds of the town, but still only a short walk from the center. It was close to Boni’s windmill where you can enjoy the sunset and the Fabrika bus station.
It was ok for one night or for those who aren’t planning to relax at the pool. The staff was very friendly and I loved the location because I was able to wake up early and go into town immediately to take photos. But if you want a more relaxed vacation in Mykonos on a budget for a longer stay, I would recommend Casa Bianca!
