Being sick while traveling, is probably every traveler’s biggest nightmare. Especially when you don’t speak the language or you feel this bad, you can’t even get out of bed (or off the toilet). So you better be prepared for when disaster strikes you.
These medicines belong in your travel bag;
Domperidone (Motilium)
This is a lifesaver when your stomach is upset. It’s the perfect medication against vomiting.
Loperamide (Immodium)
My advice to you when having diarrhea? If you can, let it all out, don’t eat greasy food and stick to water or Coca Cola without gas. Only take Immodium if you really have to. (For instance right before boarding a plane or if you have to travel for a long time without a decent toilet)
Nose spray
I once had to fly with a terrible cold and due to the pressure my ears were completely closed. I didn’t hear for 3 days. Ever since, I always take a nose spray with me. There’s nothing trickier than air conditioning or wind on a boat. Having a cold while traveling is very annoying.
Acetylcysteïne
This cough medicine liquefies mucus and makes it easier to cough up. (I know this sounds nasty)
Pain or fever medication
You can’t go wrong by taking Dafalgan or Ibuprofen when having a headache or fever.
Throat pastilles
Having a soar throat is never pleasant. These buddies will soften the pain and disinfect your throat.
Anti-itch cream
To avoid going crazy after a mosquito or another bug stings you.
Blister plasters
I can’t live without them when wearing sandals on vacation. Blisters always seem to appear on my feeth in the most unthinkable places!
