It’s almost becoming a yearly tradition; traveling to London for a weekend in December to soak in the Christmas atmosphere. After all no place in the world does Christmas like London does. The British sure know how to decorate their squares and shopping streets with all the Christmas lights in different shapes like angels, stars, crowns, chandeliers,… and parrots and palm trees at Carnaby Street, even though I don’t really get what they have to do with Christmas.
The windows of every store, restaurant or pub are beautifully decorated. Some even have moving features like puppets and trains passing by. Children love it and so do I! Also inside the stores you can find huge Christmas trees, lights and wonderful ornaments. You can find special Christmas editions of everything like beautiful boxes of cookies, luxury products and other stuff. Bookstores selling the most terrific Christmas stories with fantastic covers. I wished my little nephew was able to understand English, so I could buy him such a wonderful book! Skate rinks can be found at places like Somerset House, the Natural History Museum and of course the huge Christmas market at Hyde Park called Winter Wonderland.
Last but not least, the Londonners themselves; Even they boast Christmas all over! They sing in the street and on the tube. Even business men in suits wear their Christmas sweaters with pride above their shirts. Everyone wishes you a Merry Christmas and is super nice.
If my words didn’t convince you, then you’ll sure be persuaded by these photos! Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
