These are the most romantic places in the world I’ve seen so far.
Venice, Italy
Probably one of the biggest clichés but Venice truly is one of the most romantic places I ever visited. I don’t mean the busy tourist parts, but the more silent quarters where you can take a gondola in silence without boat queues on the canals. The only sound you’ll hear is the splashing water and the gondolier making warning noises. Wandering together through the narrow streets, along the canals, passing the hidden squares is absolutely charming.
Rome, Italy
Rome is so perfect to spend time with the one you love. Throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain together. Have a wonderful dinner at one of the many dreamy piazzas. Take in the beautiful sight of the Saint Peter’s Cathedral from the Giardino degli Aranci… Name it and it’s pure romance. All places in Rome are lovely.
Sevilla, Spain
The most terrific place in Sevilla is the Plaza de Espana. Rent a boat and float under the beautiful mosaic bridges. Besides this beautiful square you should definitely visit the Real Alcazar, which is gorgeous with its Arabic influences. The cathedral is also a true piece of architectural art. Sevilla counts endless small streets to get lost in together.
Bory Castle, Szekesfehervar, Hungary
My sister and her parents-in-law took their wedding pictures at this place with good reason. This romantic castle is located at Szekesfehervar, an Hungarian town near Budapest and looks absolutely breathtaking. What makes this place even more romantic is the story of the Hungarian architect and sculptor Jeno Bory who build this marvelous castle as a symbol of his eternal love for his wife. The many towers, flowers and statues make this place worth visiting.

Sintra, Portugal
This little Portuguese town makes you feel as if you’re living in a fairytale. It consists of various castles and palaces, which all have their specific look. Almost every castle is surrounded by a gorgeous garden where you can take romantic walks. My personal favourites are the Palacio da Pena and Quinta da Regaleira.
Fornalutx, Mallorca
One of the smallest towns I ever visited but so beautiful! Imagine narrow cobblestone streets, doors and windows of cute houses decorated with plants and flowers, laundry lines, silence and a fantastic view on the mountains.
Why I don’t include Paris
They say Paris is the city of love, but when I walk through Paris I don’t think it’s the most romantic place to be. Don’t get me wrong, I love Paris. But for romance I think it’s too crowded, too big and overrated. The small quarters like Saint Germain or Le Marais are less crowded and have a more local vibe, but still (in my opinion) aren’t the most romantic places in the world.
