One of the first things I always look up, when preparing for a trip to a more expensive destination like Mykonos, is where I can eat delicious food at a reasonable price. Whether you are at home or traveling, you always have to eat! But I’m not the kind of person that wants to spend 50€ on a 3-course dinner. In fact I almost never order a 3-course dinner either. Just a nice glass of wine, a main course and sometimes a dessert will do. Except if I didn’t make any plans that evening, then I can enjoy a more course dinner. Just to reward myself for spending another great day of exploring a new place. In Mykonos I found some very affordable places so keep reading if you want to know where to eat in Mykonos on a budget!
Where to eat in Mykonos on a budget
Apaggio, Ornos
I got this recommendation from the hotel owner. I asked for a good seafood restaurant at an affordable price and she said to go to Apaggio. This fantastic Hellenic restaurant can be found at the seaside a little further from Ornos Beach. It has a wonderful terrace right by the waterside with a view on the yachts and fishermen’s boats floating in Ornos bay. In the evening you can see the sun set behind the hill.
I took the grilled swordfish and it was delicious! Their Moschato wine was really sweet so I liked it a lot and the staff was so nice to me! I even got a free can of Tendura (a very strong shot) when I asked for the check.
Niko’s Taverna, Mykonos town
I loved this restaurant because they have plenty of choice and the locals come here too! I even got invited by a fisherman to join him on his boat, but I refused because one; it was my last day and I didn’t have the time, two; you just have to be careful as a woman on your own. I went there twice and the waiter even recognized me a few days later! The food was good, especially the moussaka!
Paraportiani Taverna, Mykonos town
Not far from Niko’s Taverna you can find Paraportiani Taverna. On the terrace you have a great view on the cute red domed church nearby. It is a little more crowded and loud but I really enjoyed their risotto with scampi’s.
Kostas, Mykonos town
This restaurant is situated in the middle of Mykonos town. The staff is very friendly and even warned me when Petros the pelican arrived. If you want to see the funny sight of a pelican walking by your table, you should go eat at Kostas. It was my first encounter with the bird and it put a smile on my face for the rest of the evening. Their moussaka was delicious and it’s a great place to watch people passing by!
